Collection Point & Pricing Changes July 2017

Collection Point Changes

Due to factors outside our control, we’ve had to change many of our collection days and locations.

To summarise:

  • New Collection Days: Most collections will now be on a Friday or the following Monday. See here for a complete list of locations and collection days. When ordering, please take particular note of your new collection day. If you have any queries, please contact us prior to placing your order.
  • Increased Freight Charges: Due to external changes, it has been necessary for us to employ a refrigerated courier to specifically transport orders from Loxton to Adelaide. This link is necessary so the relevant on-forwarding connections can occur on schedule and allow the majority of orders to be delivered on a Friday. See here for updated freight costs.

As with any new system, we will continue to monitor our freight charges for the next few months. It has never been our intention to make a profit on freight (just to cover costs), so if we notice a disparity between the anticipated and actual costs, we’ll refund accordingly.

  • Long Distance Customers: If your collection day is a Monday or Tuesday, your order will be cryovaked in bulk bags or frozen so it reaches you in the freshest condition. This service will attract a packaging fee of approximately $15 per customer and will be added to your final invoice. See note below for more info.
  • States we Serve: We are no longer able to serve Victorian customers (except Mildura). See note below for more info.

We understand these changes may inconvenience some customers. Please know that we have worked tirelessly (literally) to accommodate these changes and still be able to bring our meat to you.

We are very grateful to you, our dedicated customers, for bearing with us while we find a new ‘normal’.

Different Packaging for Long Distance Customers

Due to the change in our freight days, some customers will now receive their orders up to a week after processing.

In order to continue to serve these outlying areas and to keep goods as fresh as possible, we’ll now bulk cryovak all meat cuts and sausages, and freeze bones and organ meats.

This extra requirement means our butchering team needs more time and resources to package orders. Therefore a small packaging fee of approximately $15 will be added to the final invoices for each long-distance customer.

Collection points likely to incur the new additional packaging fee include:

  • Port Augusta, SA
  • Port Pirie, SA
  • Port Wakefield, SA
  • Roxby Downs, SA
  • Whyalla, SA
  • Bathurst, NSW
  • Dubbo, NSW
  • Mildura, VIC

We know customers in these areas will enjoy the continued benefits of ordering with us, reassured that all orders have been carefully packaged to make a longer journey.

No Longer Servicing VIC

Meat from Border Park has been heading periodically to Victoria for over 8 years. In fact, Melbourne was one of the first collection points established by our predecessors, the Schwarzs.

Due to changes in distribution days, it is no longer economically possible to send it to Victoria (except Mildura).

There are many great producers in this state, and we encourage you to source your meat from someone local to you.

We want to extend our thanks to our many loyal Victorian customers (particularly the group from Bendigo). And if you’re ever in the area, you’re welcome to drop in for a cuppa  🙂 

Product Price Rises

As production and processing costs continue to rise, we’ve made the difficult decision to raise our prices.

While this means an extra 50c – $1.50/kg for customers, it means that we can continue to cover costs on our end.

In addition, we have also introduced a small fee to cover the extra charges incurred from Paypal and eWAY payments (3% of your order, which amounts to $4.50 for a $150 order). Online payments are not only convenient, they’re now considered a necessity for online shops. We need to introduce this fee so we can continue to provide customers with these two online payment options.

Our mission continues to make our meat affordable for all families, primarily by offering bulk meat packs and alternative aged animals.

We thank you for your support over the past 3 years, and look forward to continuing this well into the future.
